Burdette "Shorty" Bell Jr., 82, of Webster City, died on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Revs. Mike Kroona and Kari Foss, officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Burdette Bell Jr., son of Burdette and Clara Reed Bell Sr., was born June 28, 1931 in Clarion. He graduated from Woolstock High School in 1951. On April 14, 1957 he married Sherrill E. Mallo at the English Lutheran Church in Webster City. Shorty worked for Hart-Carter and then Electrolux, retiring in 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Sherrill of Webster City; brother, Donald (Gloria) Bell of Bondurant; sister, Iris Hightower of Fort Smith, AR; several niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Leona Gaster, Eleanor Gray and Veda Hartman. Shorty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the UAW. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
