EAGLE GROVE -- Clara Bosworth of Eagle Grove died on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Rotary Senior Living, where she was a resident since 2009. The Funeral Service will be at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday January 11, 2014, 2:00 p.m. conducted by Pastor Jason Cooper. Visitation with refreshments will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Cass Center Cemetery near Webster City.

Clara Lillian Lonning was born on December 6, 1917, to Olaf and Serena (Viken) Lonning on a farm near Goldfield. Her parents were immigrants from Norway and Clara was very proud of her Norwegian-American heritage. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lake Lutheran Church in the rural area of Goldfield. Clara attended various country schools, attended Goldfield High School and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1935. Clara was married to Clifford Bosworth on March 6, 1937 at her parent's farm near Thor. They lived on the Bosworth family farm near Goldfield until Clifford's death in September, 1988. She was an active member of the First Christian Church and later the Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. When she moved to Eagle Grove she was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Through the years, Clara was active in community, church and extension activities, was an officer in White Shrine, Oakdale DOC Club and loved to play in Bridge and Five Hundred clubs. She was hard to defeat in a Scrabble game! She also worked at Field's Antiques in Goldfield and was active in the farming activities. She took pride in her vegetable gardens, flower gardens and family.

Clara is survived by three sons: Douglas (Pat) Bosworth of Mahomet, IL, Melvin (Fae) Bosworth of West Des Moines, IA., Randall (Jean) Bosworth of Johnston, IA. Her six grandchildren are: Douglas (Betty) Bosworth of Cincinnati, OH, Dawn (Tony) Firmani of Zionsville, IN., Kevin Bosworth of Des Moines, Denise (John) Alberhaskey of Des Moines, Julie Bosworth of Charlotte, NC, and Jeffrey (Kerry) Bosworth of Clive, IA. Clara has 12 great grandchildren: Douglas, John and Peter Bosworth of Cincinnati, OH; Sarah, Anna and Sophie Firmani of Zionsville, IN; Sierra, Emmy and Maggie Bosworth of Des Moines, IA; Lauren and Logan Bosworth of Clive, IA, Ava Bosworth of Charlotte, NC and two sisters, Norma Whitney of Chapel Hill, NC and Thelma Norem of Tomball, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, her parents and an infant brother. Memorials may be directed to the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church or Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove.
