Jon was born in Fort Dodge, IA, on October 24, 1934, to David and Leah (Wilson) Lennarson. Jon grew up in Gowrie, IA, where he graduated High School in 1953. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean War. On June 26, 1955, Jon returned to Iowa and married his high school sweetheart, E. Joanne (Burger) Lennarson. They began their married life farming in Harcourt, IA. He enjoyed dancing all his life, no matter who his partner was. He was an avid fisherman and delighted in camping with his 15 grandchildren at Lake Cornelia. He loved singing in the choir at First Lutheran Church of Clarion, spent countless hours tending his garden, and in the kitchen baking and cooking. He will long be remembered by his family from the recipes he has passed down, most famously, his Swedish meatballs.

His five daughters Barbara Strong of Webster City IA; Annette (Todd) Nedved of Greenville, MI; Kristy (David) Eaton of Leawood, KS; Lorri Willim of Des Moines, IA; and Jodi (Bill) Kruger of Westford, MA; 14 grandchildren; James, Neele, Hayley, Karlee, Ali, Chelsea, Callie, Alex, Joshua, Leah, Blake, Kyra, Jon, Hannah; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Jane Schill and Barbara Hof.
