December 18, 1983 --- January 8, 2014

BELMOND, IA -- Christine R. Holst, age 30, of Belmond, died, Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, with her loving family at her side, following a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, west of Belmond. The Rev. James Harbaugh will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Andrews Funeral Home, 516 First St. S.E., Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to the services at church Sunday. Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial in Christine's name may wish to direct them in care of her family Mike and Lorna Holst, 404 Third St., Goodell, IA 50439, the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, ICU/Cancer Unit at the University of Iowa, or to their own choice.

Christine Holst, the daughter of Michael and Lorna (Peterson) Holst was born Dec. 18, 1983, in Forest City. She attended and graduated from Belmond-Klemme High School in Belmond with the class of 2002. She then attended NIACC and Hamilton Business in Mason City. Christine worked for a period of time at Winnebago Industries In Forest City, Farm and Home Publishing in Belmond, and most recently was employed at the Subway and Jerry's Restaurants in Belmond.

She was baptized, confirmed, attended Sunday School and was involved in the St Olaf Lutheran Church. She was active in church youth group and very much enjoyed helping her mom do many fundraisers for the community of Goodell. Christine collected many piggy banks and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She had a soft spot for mistreated animals and tried to rescue them all, sharing her love with four cats and three dogs. She loved country music and attending the concerts of many country acts, a favorite of which was Jason Brown.

Christine's memory will live on in the hearts and minds of her parents, Mike and Lorna Holst, Goodell; fiancé, Jason Powell, Belmond; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Lois Holst, Leland; godparents, Gary and Mary Holst, Leland; uncles, Leslie (Diane) Peterson, Meservey, Allan (Shirlee) Peterson, Britt, godfather, Michael Peterson, Mason City, David Peterson, Rockford, Bryon (Denise) Holst, Forest City; aunts, godmother, Marje Peterson, Crystal Lake, Janet (Bernie) Scroggins, Fayette, and Nancy Toenges of Michigan; many cousins and friends, and her mama Kay and Papa Russ, Barkema, Belmond. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lauretz and Della Peterson, great-grandparents, James and Vi Holst, and cousin, Todd Holst. Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, IA.
