Bonnie Lee Baker, 76, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Oberon Assisted Living Facility in Arvada, CO. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel [Fort Dodge, Iowa]. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Agape Healthcare & Hospice Services, 6041 S. Syracuse Way, Suite 220, Greenwood Village, CO 80111.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters Marcia (Bob) Kelly of Boulder, CO and Mindy (Jim) Van Hercke of Olathe, KS; her grandson Corey McCandless of Lakewood, CO and siblings: Mary Lou (Rich) Hess of Ft. Meyers, FL; Larry (Jean) Akers of Barney, ND; Karlene Dixon of Humble, TX; and Sherry (David) Bastress of Lenexa, KS. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Beatrice Akers and one sister, Linda Ingebritson.

Bonnie was born in Dows, Iowa on May 29, 1937 to Clarence and Beatrice Akers. She attended school in Dows. Bonnie married Richard Baker in April of 1956 and they later divorced in 1982. In January of 1983 Bonnie moved to San Francisco, CA. In May of 1992 she relocated to Lakewood, CO. to be closer to family. Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper all of her life. She started at the United Bank & Trust Company in Dows, IA after her daughters were raised and continued in that occupation until she retired in 2011. Bonnie enjoyed football and was a great fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos and loved to watch golf tournaments. She spent large amounts of time with her grandson Corey who was the apple of her eye. Bonnie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
