Alice Mathiason Markonis

Alice Markonis passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Born September 24, 1922 near Rowan, Iowa to Pete and Clara Mathiason she was the eighth of eleven children. Alice married Frank Markonis and raised three children as a longtime resident of Pasadena. She worked at Vromans Pasadena and St. Luke Hospital for many years. In later years she moved to a senior community in Oceanside, CA. Alice is preceded in death by her grandson Colby Taylor. Alice is survived by three children, Tim Markonis of Santa Barbara, Barbara Nichols (Mike) of Pasadena, Mindy (Steve) Taylor of Escondido and her grandchildren, Matt, Jeff, Chris, Jon (Jana), Tracey (Tony), Cameron, Chad, and Kelly. Alice will be remembered in the hearts of those who loved her as a devoted, loving mother and grandmother, caring friend and for her sharp wit, humor, and love of music. Services will be held at a later date in Escondido, CA.
