EAGLE GROVE - Lois R. Wilson, 87, of Fort Dodge formerly of Eagle Grove, died Monday, December 23, 2013 at Villa Cottage in Fort Dodge, IA. Her funeral service will be held Monday, December 30, at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Mike Agnew officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday from 3-5pm at Foust Funeral Home. The burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove is handling the arrangements.
Lois was born to Roy and Ronelva (Reddick) Fischer at the family farm north of Thor, IA on June 19, 1926. She attended a country school and then graduated from Eagle Grove High School. She was united in marriage to Virgil Wilson in Olathe, KS on August 20, 1943 shortly before he was deployed to World War II. Lois lived with family, worked, prayed and waited. She and Virgil lived in Eagle Grove from 1946 to 1954. They then farmed near Vincent until 1982. They also owned and operated Wilson Hardware in Thor until 1987. Lois was employed with Christ Furniture until age 80. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and helped with the Wright County Shriners Mini Patrol. The couple spent several winters traveling with the NOMADS, a United Methodist Church organization, assisting those affected by natural disasters and others in need. Lois enjoyed embroidery, flowers, gardening and being a grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her six children: Kathy (Mark) Swartout of Lacey, WA, Gary (Connie) of Granger, IN, Rick (Connie) of Eagle Grove, Randy (Julia) of Seattle, WA, Dan (Mary) of Fort Dodge and Jeff (Michelle) of Cherokee, IA; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two sisters Vernice Maier of TN and Royetta Wells of Ankeny, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters June & Janice.
