Mrs. Axel Anderson Dies Sunday

Mrs. Axel Anderson of Eagle Grove, mother of Mrs. Carroll Helmke, passed away Sunday evening in the Belmond Hospital. She had been in the Helmke home since her surgery at the Belmond Hospital in April but was taken back to the hospital Thursday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Nikolina Andersen, 81, were held Wednesday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the Evangelical Lutheran church. The pastor H. W. Schiller officiated and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Andersen died Sunday at the Belmond Community Hospital where she had been a patient for three days. She had been in failing health for some time.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Midland, Miss Vera Andersen of this city, Mrs. Carroll Helmke of Renwick and Mrs. Emerson Purkapile of Seattle, Wash. She is also survived by a brother, Carl Josephsen of Anita, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs Andersen was born at Thyregod, Denmark on Dec. 5, 1886. She came to America with her brother in 1908 and they located at Verdigree, Neb. later moving to Garner. She was married to Axel Andersen who died in 1964. She had been a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church for 40 years.
