December 1873 --- January 26, 1915

Richard Ade, an employee at the local machine shop in Eagle Grove, was found frozen to death in his home. He and his wife had been having trouble and she left him a few days ago. He went over to Fort Dodge where it is supposed he imbibed too freely. Not seeing him for a few days, the neighbors made an investigation, and found him frozen to death.

*************

Richard J. Aid who has lived in this city for the past five years was found dead in his home last Thursday morning apparently having died from exposure. He had not been on duty at the round house where he had been working nights since the preceding Sunday.

On Monday evening he had telephoned his fellow employee with whom he worked that he would be on hand but failed to appear either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday nights and on Thursday morning he was found dead in his home. The officers and Coroner were notified and took the body to the Kubitchek’s undertaking parlors from which place he was buried Sunday afternoon.

His brother arrived from Mineral Point, Wisconsin on Saturday morning and took charge of the funeral arrangements.

Richard J. Aid was born in Mineral Point, Wisconsin and was forty years old at the time of his death. He was a quiet unobstrusive man having but few acquaintances and friends. He leaves surviving him his widow Emma M. Aid, three brothers, all whom live in Wisconsin.
