November 23, 1970 ---- November 11, 2013

BELMOND -- Jay W. Gochenouer, 42, of Belmond, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer at his home in Belmond surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond. Pastor Cindy Morrison will officiate. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation for Jay W. Gochenouer will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to services there on Saturday. Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials for Jay W. Gochenouer may be directed toward, United Methodist in Belmond, Hospice of North Iowa, and/or North Iowa Humane Society.

Jay Wesley, the son of Jim and Myra Walker Gochenouer, was born Nov. 23, 1970, in Lincoln, Neb. Jay grew up in Illinois and Iowa. He attended elementary school in Normal, Ill., and later junior high in Guthrie Center. While in junior high and high school Jay became an accomplished swimmer. He won and broke records in several state events. Jay graduated from Huxley High School in 1990. He then attended DMACC in Ankeny, before graduating from Wayne State College in May of 1996. Jay received a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. Throughout his life, Jay worked in several capacities. He held a securities license, and worked at Principal Financial from April 2000 to September 2008. He then began full time at the Belmond Hospital. Jay worked hard as a dedicated Emergency Service Technician. His E.M.T. career ended recently due to health. Jay was able to fully complete his paramedic training. Jay was married to Mary Bibler in 1994 then Gwen Dickes in 2000, to which he was blessed with three children, Victoria, Jacob and Caleb.

Jay was united marriage to Janey L. Rockow on July 16, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond. The couple made their home in Belmond. He very much enjoyed his work with the Belmond Ambulance. He was an avid gun enthusiast, liked Monte Carlo and Barracuda muscle cars, riding motorcycles, and relaxing beside his fish tank. Jay was a lover of Marvel comic books, especially Spider Man. He also loved to cheer on the Cornhuskers on Saturday and the Cowboys on Sunday. Jay was a good Christian man who lived a proud life, and found it very difficult accepting gifts from his community of friends. Jay was member of the United Methodist in Belmond.

Jay is survived by his wife, Janey, parents, Jim and Myra Gochenouer of Belmond, children, Victoria at home, Jacob and Caleb in Parkersburg, special daughters, Tori Jones of Mason City, Elizabeth Diamond of Parkersburg, brother, Jon Gochenouer of Mason City, mother and father-in-law, Janet and Sam Rockow of Belmond, and numerous other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents. Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South, Belmond, Iowa.
