Jerry Lee Helmick, the son of Clyde and Edna (Ross) Helmick, was born on October 9, 1936, in Webster City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1954. Jerry worked for and managed in the Grain Elevator/COOP business for over 40 years. He worked in Truesdale, Grundy Center, Kansas City, MO and Clinton, MO. Jerry retired in 2001 and returned to Eagle Grove. Jerry was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and was active with the Elks, Eagles and Moose Lodges. He also enjoyed fishing and flying.

Jerry passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge at the age of 77 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kit Annette Helmick and niece Denae` Schaumburg. Survivors include his special friend, Beverly Holsinger of Eagle Grove; sons, Kurt Helmick and wife Jody of Adel and Kyle Helmick of Des Moines; daughter, Keely Terry and husband Tom of Prairie Village, KS; six grandchildren: Joe, Robert, Jeremy, Matt, Drew and Lauren; brother, Dean Helmick and wife Marilyn of Eagle Grove and several nieces, nephews and friends. Private family services will be held. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
