Services held for Velsie Baker

Velsie Baker died Sunday, July 16 at the Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Neb. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 19 at the Kastler-Babcock-DeYoung Funeral Home and burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery [Eagle Grove, Iowa]. Rev. Howell Bischoff officiated at the ceremony.

Velsie Baker was born May 8, 1899, the daughter of James and Genny [sic. Jenny] Richardson Whitford, at Deer Lodge, Mont. She was educated at Deer Lodge and moved to Eagle Grove in 1924. She married Harold F. Baker in Dubuque that year and they resided in Eagle Grove all their married life. Survivors include her husband, Harold; one son, Ray E. Baker of Sioux City; one daughter Marlene (Mrs. Frank) Hotz of Council Bluffs, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Ray and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Falsey and Mrs. Marjorie Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, and one brother.
