Harold Francis Baker, the son of George W. and Ella Mae Nickerson Baker, was born at Webster City on Oct. 15, 1898. He died at the Lutheran Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. on Saturday evening, Nov. 8, 1980 at the age of 82 years and 23 days. He attended school in Eagle Grove. On April 3, 1924, he was united in marriage with Velsie Whitford of Freeport, Ill. to this union were born two children, Ray and Marlene. The family lived in Eagle Grove, where Harold was employed by the Iowa Public Service Company for many years. Mrs. Baker died in July of 1978. He moved to the Rotary Ann Home in February, 1979 and recently he had been in Omaha for medical treatment. He was a member of the United Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his daughter, Marlene and her husband, Frank Hotz of Council Bluffs; his son and daughter-in-law, Ray E. and Myrna Baker of Sioux City; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Glen W. Baker of Eagle Grove; a sister, Mrs. Edna Peterson of Pontiac, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Mrs. Galatea Weedman; and infant sister, Ella Mae and a brother, Wilbur Baker.
Funeral services for Harold F. Baker were held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1980 at the United Church of Christ at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Kenneth Reiter, Church pastor, officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
