ROGERS, Ark. — Paul Palmer, 91, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, in Rogers. He was born March 16, 1922, in Corwith, Iowa to Paul Palmer and Mildred Clark Palmer. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific on several different ships including three that sank. He spent 29 days in a life raft before being rescued and lived the rest of his life with the pain of shrapnel in his body. He was a local general contractor, building homes and commercial buildings for over 26 years. For a hobby, Paul did beautiful woodwork and enjoyed making rocking chairs and furniture for those he loved. He was an active, faithful member of First Baptist Church in Centerton for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years, Loretta; and seven siblings. Paul is survived by one son, Tom Palmer and wife, Peg, of Rogers; two daughters, Kathy Reid and husband, Bob, of Centerton, Debby Machupa, of Centerton; one sister, Bernice Hammond, of Kentucky; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at First Baptist Church in Centerton with Pastor Stuart Bell officiating. Burial will be in Bentonville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Freedom Fund Inc. PO Box 697, Bryant, Ark. 72089 to support our Military, Veterans, Wounded Warriors and the families that have shared in the glories and sacrifices of those who defend our freedom. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
