Receive Word Here of the Death of H. L. Dominy
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kepper and children visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Dominy at Estherville on Sunday [December 27, 1959]. After they returned home Sunday evening they received word that Mr. Dominy had passed away of a heart attack. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Kepper.

H. L. Dominy Dies After Heart Attack
H. L. (Sam) Dominy, 78, resident of Swan Lake Township for the past 42 years, died last night at his home at 8:25 after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Dominy had returned home just Wednesday from Holy Family Hospital where he had been hospitalized for several days for treatment of a heart condition. He had been in failing health for the past several years.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dominy, he was born Dec. 3, 1881 at Harding in LaSalle County, Ill., and received his education in the Harding schools. In 191? he came to Iowa and settled first on a farm near Goodell. In March, 1914 he was married to Julia Finn at Belmond and in 1915 the couple moved to Emmet County. In 1917 they moved to a farm in Swan Lake Township and have continued to live there since that time.
Mr. Dominy served for 20 years on the Emmet County Board of Education, was township clerk for 20 years and was secretary of the Maple Hill Shipping Association. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Dominy is survived by his wife; three sons, Russell of Ringsted, Raymond of Dubuque, and Donald of Postville; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Leona) McCarville of Moorland, Jeanne of Des Moines and Mrs. Dale (Betty Ann) Christiansen of Ames, and 13 grandchildren. Frank Dominy of Goodell, a brother, also survives as do several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one of them the late Mrs. M. J. Woods of this city, and two brothers.
Funeral services for Mr. Dominy are to be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Rev. James H. Duhigg officiating. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery. Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from this evening until time of services.
