Esther R. Blankenship, age 92, of Dows passed away Monday December 17, 2012 at her home in Dows. Memorial services for Esther R. Blankenship will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday May 31, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church in Dows. Pastor Ron Nelson will officiate. Inurnment will take place in the Graceland cemetery in Webster City, Iowa. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dugger Funeral Home, 100 North Lee Street in Dows.
Esther Ruth, the daughter of Weert and Minnie Brockschmidt Bohlen, was born in Kamrar, Iowa. She grew up in the Kamrar area where she attended school. Esther graduated from Webster City High School. Throughout her life, Esther would work as sales clerk, waitress and bank teller. Esther was married to first, Charles Evilsizer, then later, Lloyd Blankenship. Esther was blessed with five children, Ronald, Douglas, Patricia, Gregory and Pam.
Esther was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dows. She was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan, and was not to be bothered whenever the Cubs were playing. She loved to play cards.
Esther is survived by her children, Ronald E. (Carole) of Denison, IA, Douglas C. (Becky) of Kansas City, MO, Pamela K. Staley (Jerry) of Webster City, twelve grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Patricia, infant son, Gregory, five sisters and three brothers. DUGGER FUNERAL HOME, 100 NORTH LEE STREET, DOWS, IOWA.
