Ella Arends, Wife of Local Pastor, Dies
Rockford, Ill. — Mrs. Ella M. L. Arends, 58, 2523 Benderwirt Ave., wife of Dr. Edwin Arends pastor of Bethel Evangelical and Reformed chruch, died Friday in her home. Mrs. Arends was born in George, Ia. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Rudloff. She came to Rockford three years ago from Freeport, where her husband formerly was pastor of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church. She was married to Edwin Arends Dec. 18, 1915, in Pasadena, Cal. She was active in the Women's guild of Bethel church and was a teacher in the Sunday school. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. W. Earl Siria, Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren; and two sisters. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Bethel Evangelical and Reformed church, with the Rev. Robert E. Schwarze, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church, Davis, officiating. Burial will be in Alexander, Ia., where graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. (CDT) Monday. Arrangements were completed in the Long-Klontz funeral home, 428 Park ave.
Friends who wish to do so may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be sent to Harold M. Baker, president of the board of Bethel Evangelical and Reformed church. There will be no visitation.
