Eagle Grove Vet Killed in Collision
Eagle Grove - William E. Bornholt, 20, soldier recently discharged from military service, was killed and his brother, Glen, was injured when the car in which they were riding collided with a truck on U.S. highway 169 near Badger, 7 miles north of Fort Dodge, at 8:30 p. m. Tuesday. The Bornholt brothers were on their way to Fort Dodge when their car and a truck sideswiped on the slippery highway. William suffered a fractured skull and his neck was believed to have been broken. Glen was taken to a hospital at Fort Dodge but was released Wednesday morning when it was found his injuries were not serious. Occupants of the truck, which was loaded with corn, were Mr. and Mrs. William Eidem, Fremont, Nebr. The Bornholt boys are brothers of Mrs. May Freerkson of Eagle Grove.

Former Renwick Veteran Killed Near Ft. DodgeWilliam E. Bornholt, age 20, of Eagle Grove and former Renwick Resident, died in a car collision seven miles north of Fort Dodge on highway 169, about 7:45 P.M. Tuesday, Feb.5. His brother Glen, 32, received severe head injuries, and is now improving at Mercy hospital in Fort Dodge. They were the only occupants of the car. The accident occurred when the Bornholt car going towards Fort Dodge collided with a grain truck driven by William Eiden, of Freemont, Nebraska, on his way to Humboldt. Eiden's wife was with him. William Bornholt was discharged from the army three weeks ago after serving overseas in Germany. He lived with his family a number of years in the Renwick community. The details of funeral services are not known.
