Bess Ellestad Oppedahl, daughter of Osman and Hannah Kallem Larson, was born in Beaver Township, Humboldt County Dec. 26, 1894. She passed away at Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge Sept. 14 at the age of 66 years. She was educated in the Dakota City and Humboldt schools. She continued her education by attending business college in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was confirmed in the First Lutheran church at Humboldt. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was united in marriage with Gilbert Ellestad June 12, 1922. Mr. Ellestad passed away in 1924. For many years she was Deputy Clerk of Courts. She was united in marriage with Andrew Oppedahl, Sr., Dec. 26, 1959. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Duane Wendle of Des Moines; and three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Levi Olson; and one brother, Ollie Larson of Humboldt. Also surviving are four step-children, Mrs. Orville Olson of Bode, Mrs. Eldon Monson of Livermore, the Rev. Andrew Oppedahl, Jr. of Saco, Mont., and Sumner B. Oppedahl of Goldfield and six step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sept. 19 with interment in the Union cemetery. Casket bearers were Edward Dyvig, C.W. Echelberger, Guy Smith, H.L. Strong, Frank Lowder, and Anton Stoebe.
