July 7, 1883 --- February 6, 1988

Funeral services for Marie Nissen, 104, Renwick, were held Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick, with burial in Vernon Township Cemetery near Hardy. She died Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home in Kanawha, where she had lived since 1978. The Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Renwick was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. Oliver Everson officiating.

Survivors include two sons, Wilbur and Maurice, both of Renwick; one daughter, Nora Watson of Sun City, AZ; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1949. Marie Sandvold was born near Oslo, Norway, and received her education in Norway. At the turn of the century she came to the United States and worked at the St. James Hotel in Livermore before her marriage to William Nissen in 1908. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Renwick, where he operated a butcher shop. In 1974 she moved to the Torgerson Rooming House in Humboldt and in 1978 she moved to the Kanawha Community Nursing Home. She was a member of the ALCW at St. Paul Lutheran Church, member of the former Gertrude Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star at Renwick, the Royal Neighbors of America and the Boone Township Women's Club.
