June 8, 1909 --- March 4, 1986

Edith L. Carpenter, 76, Webster City, died early today at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

Edith L. Myers, daughter of Albert M. and Myrtle Adams Myers, was born June 8, 1909 in Hamilton County. She was reared and educated in the Dows community, graduating from Dows High School in 1927. She was married Dec. 28, 1928, at the Methodist Parsonage in Webster City to Fay I. Carpenter. The couple resided in the Dows and Stratford area and for the past several years have resided in Webster City. She is survived by two daughters and a son, Jean (Mrs. Dick) Mensing of Nevada, Albert M. Carpenter of Webster City, Julie (Mrs. Joe) Handburg of Neola; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane (Mrs. Dewey) Moore and Alberta (Mrs. Ronald) Kennedy, both of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Philip, who died in 1946, two grandchildren, her parents, two brothers and two sister. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors.
