Stricken With Paralysis

GOLDFIELD, Jan. 16 — James H. McCurry, one of the most respected farmers of this region and one of the pioneer settlers of this county, was stricken with paralysis day before yesterday and still remains in an insurable condition from the effects thereof. From all accounts it seems that he had gone out in the morning as usual to feed his hogs. When he had proceeded as far as the hog pasture and was engaged in his work he was suddenly stricken and fell to the ground. In this position he remained for nearly two hours, his hands and face becoming frozen, meanwhile, before those at the house feared anything had happened to him. His son then went after him and found him prone upon the ground. He was immediately taken to the house and the doctor called. He may recover.

The Stroke Proves Fatal

GOLDFIELD, Jan. 28— Jas. H. McCurry, who was spoken of in The Gazette of a few days ago as having been stricken with paralysis, died yesterday morning at 9 o'clock, after nearly two weeks of intense suffering; during which he was unable to speak and could only move with the greatest difficulty. The funeral services took place at the house this afternoon and the body was laid in Glenwood cemetery this afternoon, one of the largest funeral trains ever seen in this region following it to its last long rest.
