December 27, 1833 --- December 14, 1923

Asa C. Parr was born December 27th, 1833, near Akron, Ohio, and died Friday, December 14th, 1923, at Renwick, Iowa, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. B. Richardson, age 89 years, 11 months and 17 days. In 1843, when but a small boy, he moved with his parents from Ohio to Iowa, traveling by wagon, and settled in what is now Cedar County before Iowa became a State. He grew to manhood in Cedar County and in the year 1858 he was united in marriage to Lydia Jane Heck. To this union four children were born, the older, Ida May, dying in infancy, the three surviving are Mrs. Laura Bodine of Rapid City, South Dakota, Mrs. A. B. Richardson of Renwick, Iowa, and Mrs. A. L. Hoover of Des Moines, Iowa.

He was a pioneer settler of Eagle Grove, moving there with his family in the year 1881(?) at the time of completion of the Chicago and North Western Railroad to Eagle Grove, and resided there until the death of his wife in the year 1904. The remaining years of his life have been spent with his daughter, Mrs. A. B. Richardson. He leaves to mourn his departure, three daughters, six grandchildren, numerous relatives and friends.
