Funeral Services For Mary Babler Held Here Friday

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. July 10 in the Evangelical United Brethren church at Renwick with the Rev. L. B. Mitchell officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Anna Krause and Mrs. Dick Hefty with Mrs. Eddie L. Bygness, organist. Attendants were Elmer Steven, Harold Smith, Russell Smith, Walter Steven, Bruce Smith, and Carl Frank. Interment was made in the Vernon cemetery at Renwick with the Blake Funeral Home in charge.

Mary Stauffacher, daughter of Esias and Margaret Stauffacher, was born in Dutch Hollow, near Monroe, Wisconsin, February 7, 1868. There she grew up and early in life joined the Evangelical Church in Dutch Hollow. In January 1889 she was united in marriage to Meinrad Babler, a young immigrant from Switzerland. In the fall of 1889 they bought a farm near Hardy, Iowa, on which they made their home for 12 years. Then they sold and bought nearer Renwick, and lived there 8 years. Then sold out and bought a home in Renwick in 1910. They lived there until Mr. Babler's death in 1948. Mrs. Babler continued to live there until September 19, 1955 when she went to live with her niece, Mrs. Roy Steven, near Emmetsburg where she remained until her death July 7, 1959. She was 91 years and 5 months old. Mrs. Babler was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church of Renwick all the years she lived in Iowa. There are 2 sisters living yet, of 9 sisters and 3 brothers. Margaret Phillips, 95, of Pasadena, California, and Kathryn Pinnow, 85, of Winneconne, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
