Ethel Louise McCown, age 94, of Pensacola, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012. She was born December 26, 1917 in Pocahontas, Iowa, and resided in Elsie, Nebraska before moving to Pensacola in 1979. Mrs. McCown was a member of Ferry Pass Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary #240, as well as a lifetime member of the Al Gray Chapter of the Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary. Mrs. McCown is preceded in death by her husband, Troy (Sandy) McCown; parents, Fred and Hulda Swanson; brother, Curtis Swanson; and sister, Elsie Westphal. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth W. and Brenda McCown of Decatur, AL, and son, Thomas D. McCown of Portland, OR; three grandchildren, Shawn McCown, Christopher McCown, and Jacqueline Wilson; five great-grandchildren, Haley McCown, Kevin McCown, Rachel Crovo, Scott Wilson, Justin Wilson; former granddaughter-in-law, Tonya Crovo, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be at Barrancas National Cemetery on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 1:15 p.m. with Reverend Norman Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Ferry Pass United Methodist Church, 7300 North Davis Hwy, Pensacola, FL 32504, or American Legion Post #240, 8666 Gulf Beach Hwy, Pensacola, FL 32507 on the memory of Ethel McCown. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Pkwy, is in charge of arrangements.
