Melvin O. Johnson, 92, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. Services will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17 at the First Presbyterian Church with CLP Marcia Rich officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. The visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on today at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Melvin is survived by his sisters, Grace Johnson and Alice Johnson, both of Fort Dodge; and other family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Melvin O. Johnson, the son of Otto and Estella (Messerly) Johnson, was born in Colfax Township on Jan. 14, 1915. Melvin received his education and was a lifelong farmer near Fort Dodge. Melvin was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a member of the board of trustees. Melvin was a member of the Farm Bureau and he enjoyed traveling and camping.
