October 26, 1933 --- December 20, 2009

Mona Morris LaBarr of Harvard, Nebraska, departed this life and entered The Eternal Home on December 20, 2009, at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska. Mona was 86 years of age having been born on October 26, 1923 to Jerry Thomas and Nora Belle (Nix) Morris in Ft. Summer, New Mexico. The family lived briefly in Colorado and Utah but early in her childhood they settled in Lebam, Washington, where she graduated high school in 1941. She attended college in Pullman, Washington, Seattle, Washington and took drafting class sponsored by Boeing. She worked for Boeing Aircraft during World War II. It was while living in Seattle, Washington that she met Harry A. LaBarr, Jr. a young Navy seaman from Iowa. They were married January 26, 1948 in Clarion, Iowa and lived in Eagle Grove, Iowa until 1962. In 1962 they moved to Hastings, NE and then to Harvard, NE where they lived for 44 years. Harry and Mona were married for 60 years.

Mona was a loving wife and mother. She was a good cook, liked to read and listen to music and was very interested in genealogy, tracing several family names back through 14 generations, she was the Harvard (Nebraska) Librarian from 1975 to 1980, retiring due to rheumatoid arthritis.

Mona is survived by: daughters, Nora LaBarr and Penny LaBarr both of Hastings, Nebraska; Madeline (Meg) Kruse and husband Richard of Harvard, Nebraska Trudy LaBarr of Mason City, Iowa; and a host of friends and relatives. Mona was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: her parents, Jerry and Nora Morris; husband Harry A. LaBarr; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
