Elmer L. Conkins Dies at Hospital

Elmer L. Conkins, 65, died at a local [Crookston, Minnesota] hospital Saturday. He was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, January 30, 1886. He married the former Mayme Scully. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and was an employee of the Great Northern Railroad for 41 years. Survivors include his widow, two sons, Everett of Bemidji and E. Jerome of Crookston; two daughters, Mrs. Ray Browne of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Darrell Munn of Crookston and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception with the Rev. Fr. William Keefe officiating. Honorary pallbearers include Henry Welte, John Hamerlik, Gus Heldstab, Lewis Noesen, William Henry and Edward Micka. Active pallbearers will be Albert Bakke, Joseph Surprenant, Emery Duval, Carl Hanson, William Panzer and Edward Hanson.
