Steven R. Heathershaw, 74, of Wernersville, Pennsylvania passed away August 15, 2013 at Keystone Villa in Fleetwood. Born in Mason City, Iowa, he was the son of the late Frederick C. and Nina M. (Rietz) Heathershaw. He was a graduate of Rowan High School, Rowan, Iowa and Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa. He retired in 2003 after 43 years from Lucent Technologies, Reading. Steve served in the Air National Guard. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and the Berks County Historical Society. He was a student of WWII and Berks County history, and was passionate about college basketball, especially his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved living in Wernersville, his friendly, family–like neighbors, his old house, cutting firewood for his fireplace, growing hot peppers, and walking the towpath at Gring’s Mill. He loved his family, children, grandchildren, and Nancy.
He is survived by a son, Eric E. Heathershaw, husband of Michelle, Wernersville; a daughter, Aimee, wife of Rick Tyrrell, Clemson, SC; five grandchildren, Luke, Marc, and Jack Rentschler, and Leah and James Heathershaw; and his best friend and loving companion, Nancy Heffner.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 2848 St Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, Fr. Karl L. Kern officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 - 8:00 PM, Thursday, at Lamm and Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago IL 60693. Donations may also be made to the Rowan Historical Society, c/o Anna Mae Avery, 2064 Uptograph Ave., Rowan Iowa, 50470
