Robert E. Muhm passed away peacefully on July 13, 2013. Born on April 8, 1924 in Kanawha, Iowa and raised in a farming family, son of Fred and Clara (nee Hartwig) Muhm. He enlisted in the Marines in 1943 and graduated from Iowa State University where he met his wife, Janet. Bob studied Forestry while at Iowa State and partially financed his education by working as a smokejumper. He had a successful career in manufacturing, retiring as Plant Manager from Johnson Well Screens in West Deptford, NJ. Bob enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a talented artist and woodworker. He was an active member of the Woodbury Exchange Club and the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury. He also served on the board of The ARC Gloucester for 17 years from 1986-2003. Mostly however, he was a faithful and loving husband to his wife Janet for 63 years and a devoted father to Claire Muhm (Rory O'Connor) of Cambridge, MA, Barbara Faust (Richard) of Carmichael, CA, Marjorie Workman (John) of Clarksboro, NJ and Pauline Pohl (Howard) of Palatine, IL. He was a wonderful grandfather to Emily Faust, Robin Workman, Rebecca Workman Polito and Eric Pohl. Bob is also survived by his sister, Patricia Eggers of Sparta, WI, his brother, John of Bourbonnais, IL and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Carole Cassel and his brothers, Charles, Ralph, Merle and Donald. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24, at 11 AM at The Presbyterian Church at Woodbury, 67 S. Broad St., Woodbury, NJ with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury or The ARC of Gloucester.
