Dorothy Quint, 83, of Chetek, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, after a long battle against the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Belmond, Iowa, on July 2, 1930, and just celebrated her 83rd birthday. In 1949, she married John Quint and spent 62 years happily married until his death in 2010. They worked jointly for many years operating the WCCO Smoke shop, where Dorothy’s soups and egg salad sandwiches were legendary. In 1990, she and John retired to Potato Lake in Chetek. In 2007, she entered Knapp Haven Nursing Home, residing there until she joined her beloved John in heaven. Her sweet and loving temperament will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Quint; and her parents, John and Minnie Kriens. She is survived by one son, Michael (Nancy) Quint, of Chisago City, Minn.; two daughters, Sandra Quint, of Champlin, Minn., and Patti Quint, of El Cajon, Calif.; three sisters, Wilhelmine Vestweber, Phyllis Baumgardner and Joan (Airell) Clark; two brothers, Richard (Linda) Kriens and Kenny (Florence) Kriens; four grandchildren, Cameron, Amy, Mary and Brandon.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 9, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek for the wonderful care and love they gave her during her time there. The Burnham-Ours Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
