Marvin Kriener, age 60, of Waucoma, IA, died on Saturday, June 29, 2013, from injuries he received in a tractor rollover accident. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, in St. Lucas, Iowa, with Rev. Nick March presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday at St. Luke’s Catholic Church and also after 9:00 a.m., at the church on Wednesday morning. Arrangements are being handled by the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, IA.

Marvin Luke Kriener was born on January 2, 1953, the son of Chris and Cecilia (Kruse) Kriener at St. Joseph’s Hospital in New Hampton, Iowa. He attended St. Luke’s Catholic School and graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1971. He attended NIACC in Mason City and graduated from Upper Iowa University in Fayette in 1975. Marvin was united in marriage to Connie Jean Delger on July 12, 1975, at the First Lutheran Church in Clarion, Iowa. Together they lived and raised their three children, Heidi, Chris and Craig where they currently live. Urban and Marvin started St. Lucas Implement in St. Lucas. Then he sold Moorman Livestock Feeds from home and in later years, Arbie Scooter Feeds. Marvin sold Knights of Columbus Insurance and recently worked as a Financial Advisor for Primerica. For the last thirty-six years, Marvin was a High School official for area basketball, softball and volleyball games. Marvin enjoyed hunting deer, riding horses, all sports, his dogs and especially socializing with family and friends and anybody he wanted to make smile. And he was always ready to deal….

Marvin is survived by his wife: Connie Kriener, Waucoma, IA. Three children: Heidi Kriener, Alpha, IA; Christopher Kriener, Fort Collins, CO; and Craig Kriener, Cedar Falls, IA. Marvin is also survived by his three sisters: Agnes Soukup, Ridgeway, IA; Ann (Jack) Herold, Fort Atkinson, IA; and Rita (Paul) Gerleman, Decorah, IA. Two brothers: Clarence Kriener, Lawler, IA, and Urban (Patricia) Kriener, Waucoma, IA. One sister-in-law: Leona Kriener, Cresco, IA. Father and mother-in-law: Robert and Beverly Delger, Clarion, IA. One brother-in-law: David (Patti) Delger, Urbandale, IA, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents: Chris and Cecilia Kriener One brother: Luke Kriener. One sister: Irene Schmitt. One sister-in-law: Geniece Kriener. Two brothers-in-law: Vern Schmitt and Clarence Soukup. Three nephews: Bruce Kriener, Ivan Kriener, and James Schmitt.

ELDORADO, Iowa — Authorities say a 60-year-old Iowa man died this weekend when the tractor he was driving rolled into a ditch along a northeast Iowa highway. The Fayette County Sheriff's office says the accident happened Saturday morning along Highway 150 south of Eldorado. The sheriff's office said Sunday that Marvin Luke Kriener of Waucoma, Iowa, died in the crash. Authorities say the Kriener lost control of the tractor before going into the ditch. Kriener was thrown from the tractor when it rolled. Kriener was taken to Palmer Hospital where he died.
