IOWA FALLS - Funeral service for Marie L. Gimer, 90, formerly of Renwick, will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Renwick. Burial will be in Vernon Township Cemetery in rural Hardy. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM on Wednesday until time of service at the church.

Marie Louise Klein was born on July 12th, 1922, in Rolfe, Iowa. She was graduated from Humboldt High School. Marie married Thomas Woodrow Gimer on October 8th, 1939, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Renwick, IA, with the exception of their time residing in Oakland, CA, during Tom's time in the US Navy. In Renwick, Tom and his brother Harl were partners in operating the Renwick Community Creamery.

Marie was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Society, and she volunteered for various organizations promoting Renwick and its residents. In 1982, she took on a more active role alongside Tom in the operations of what had become the Pioneer Cheese Factory; most specifically, Marie developed the retail services of the business. Her hobbies included sewing and ceramics, but more than anything, Marie loved to bake for both her family and her community. Friends and family remember her wonderful dinner rolls and desserts!

Marie died on June 15th at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She was 90 years old. Marie is survived by her children, Richard Gimer, Potomac, MD; Virginia (Ginger) Bolte and husband, Fred, Ankeny, IA; Paul Gimer, Los Osos, CA; and David Gimer and wife Kathryn (Rizzuti) Gimer, Iowa Falls, IA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Klein, Cora Klein Parker, stepfather J. Arthur Parker, brother Willard Klein, sister-in-law Julia Cady Klein Sankey, an infant sister Ella Beth, husband Tom Gimer, daughter-in-law Millicent (Stutzman) Gimer, and granddaughter Lori Ann (Bolte) Muehlenthaler.
