DUNCOMBE - Helen M. Royster, 87, of Duncombe, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Foster Chapel, with Revs. Dot Hasler and Gina Spohnheimer, officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Township Cemetery at Duncombe. Visitation will be at Fosters from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Helen Marie Dencklau, daughter of Ernest and Alma Zabel Dencklau, was born September 8, 1925 at Vincent, Iowa. She attended a rural school in the Vincent area and was employed at Steinmaus Grocery, where she met Dean. On March 6, 1947, she married H. Dean Royster at Fort Dodge. The couple farmed south of Duncombe. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening and most of all spending time with her family and friends. Dean died February 11, 1997.

Mrs. Royster is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Marsha Royster of Duncombe; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Richard Mueller of Macomb, MI; Judy and Rick McCormick of Webster City; grandchildren, Nathan and Nikki Mueller; Steven Mueller and Rachel Volpe; Lyndsay Mueller; Adam and Heather Royster; Aaron and Lindsay Royster and Allan Royster; four great-grandchildren, many friends and family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Dencklau and sister, Esther Steinmaus.

Helen was active in the Duncombe United Methodist Church, serving on many committees, teaching Sunday School and helping with the yearly bazaar. Helen was also a member of the United Methodist Women and was a charter member of the Duncombe American Legion Auxiliary since 1946.
