July 8, 1900 --- July 29, 1987

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 1, at First Reformed Church, Meservey, Iowa, for Mrs. Bert (Myrtle) Groen, 87, of Meservey. She died Wednesday, July 29, 1987, at a Belmond nursing home. The Rev. Rodney Meester officiated and burial was in the Meservey cemetery.

She was born July 8, 1900, in Ellston, the tof Alfred E. and Lillie B. (Waller) Cooper. She attended Ellston schools and Iowa Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught school in Meservey in 1925 and 1926. She continued to teach school in Bode and Sioux Rapids until her marriage. On July 3, 1930, she married Bert Groen in the Little Brown church, Nashua. The couple lived in the Meservey and Goodell areas where they operated two gas stations in Goodell until moving to Arkansas. They returned to Meservey in 1980 after retirement.

Survivors include her husband, Bert of Meservey, and a brother, Roy Cooper, Mount Ayr, Iowa. Mrs. Groen was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.
