Eloise H. Welch, 102, of Fort Dodge passed away on Monday June 10, 2013 at the Friendship Haven Health Center. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday June 14, 2013 at First Congregational Church with Reverend Joey Feldmann officiating. The burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Eloise was born in Alden, IA on June 10, 1911 to Thomas and Mina (Lighthall) Hurst. She moved to Fort Dodge when she was 8 years old and grew up and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1927 at the age of 16. She continued her education at the Rockford Women's College obtaining a BA in Art. She taught Junior High in Eagle Grove, IA, Rockford, IL and then Fort Dodge. She married Richard O. Welch on June 15, 1941 in Fort Dodge. She was a lifetime Member of First Congregational Church where she was involved in Women's Groups and taught Sunday school. She became a member of PEO in 1944 and was a charter member of Chapter JX since 1949. She was involved in Book Club, PTA and served as president of the City PTA Council, Fine Arts Council, The Blanden Art Foundation, The Women's Club she was a Den Mother and Brownie Leader. She loved art, had a very detailed memory and was a spunky conversationalist.

Eloise is survived by her daughter Barbara (Gary) Peterson of Cedar Rapids, IA and their children Britt (Scott) Fero, Brad and Haley Peterson all of Seattle, WA; her son Richard O. Welch Jr. (Cindy Stewart) and their children Andrew and Elizabeth Welch all of Kalamazoo, MI; son-in-law Jahed Djomehri and children Ihsan (Huda) Djomehri, Salih (Sadeka) Djomehri, Sama'a and Sabra Djomehri all of Los Altos, CA; great-grandchildren Akram, Adam, Alea, Marwa and Safa. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard O. Welch Sr.; daughter Linda Welch Djomehri; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Memorials may be directed to Friendship Haven or First Congregational Church.
