Death From Coal Gas

Dows, Iowa, Feb - Yesterday morning about 10 o’clock some friends called at the residence of Theodore Peterson, some four miles west of town, and were horrified to find Mr. Peterson and his mother both dead. They were found in separate beds in rooms opening into the sitting room and apparently just as they had retired the previous Saturday evening. It is supposed they came to their death by coal gas, as the sitting room contained a soft coal burner, with a damper in the pipe closed, and a piece of isinglass broken out of the stove where gas could easily escape. They were estimable people and highly respected.
