September 6, 1962 --- April 30, 2013

Gary L. Borcherding, age 50, of Latimer passed away Tuesday April 30, 2013 at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Memorial services for Gary Borcherding will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday May 4, 2013 at the St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Pastor Marvin Lorenz will officiate. Burial will take place in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church cemetery following the service. Visitation for Gary L. Borcherding will be held from 12:00 Noon until service-time on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials be made to the St Paul’s Lutheran School in Latimer and/or Iowa Hospice of Waterloo in the name of Gary L. Borcherding. Dugger Funeral Home, 320 East Street in Latimer is in charge of arrangements.

Gary Lynn the son of Rudolph and Sylvia Nelson Borcherding was born September 6, 1962 at the Lutheran Hospital in Hampton. He grew up on the family farm north of Latimer. Gary attended St Paul’s Lutheran School and CAL. He worked at Eaton in Belmond before moving to St. Louis, MO in 1985. Gary first worked for ACME and then Décor Interior and Jewelry. Gary returned to Latimer in 2006. He worked as a cook at the Belmond Health Care Center. Gary was forced to stop working due to poor health. Gary had recently been under the excellent care of the Iowa Hospice of Waterloo.

Gary is survived by his mother, Sylvia, brothers, Dr. Alan of St. Louis, MO, Glen and Susie of Mason City, two aunts, Mary Lois Nelson of Ames, Genevieve Borcherding of Latimer, three uncles, Harold (Gus) Nelson and wife, Janis of Clinton, CT, Wilbert Borcherding and wife, Margot of Latimer, Wayne Borcherding and wife, Lois of Latimer and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Rudy in 1994, grandparents, Gust and Blanche Nelson and Herman and Martha Borcherding, and two uncles, Donald and Ervin.
