MARILYN SUE EHLER
August 2, 1931 --- April 22, 2013

Marilyn passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 to join her parents, Elbridge M and Miriam V. (Trowbridge) Cook, and Brother James T. Cook in their heavenly home. Her three sons, Jeffrey A. (Ruth), Jay B. (Denise) and Ted S. spent quality time with her on Sunday before leaving for their respective homes in Omaha, Denver and Overland Park, KS. She was at peace with her family, herself and her Lord Jesus Christ when she passed early Monday morning. Her husband DeWayne was at her side.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, at Holy Trinity Lutheran church in Ankeny with a fellowship lunch to follow. An interment service will be held at 2:00 pm at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Marilyn leaves five grandchildren, Curtis (Jenna) Ehler, Karen K. (Jeremy) Kuhns, Lily K. Ehler, Mitchel J. Ehler and Haley J. Ehler, one great-grand son Asher D. Kuhns and 15 nieces and nephews. She was extremely close to her surviving brother, Keith L. Cook and his two daughters, Melanie and Amy.

Born and raised in Clarion, Iowa, she attended Clarion schools and then received a BS in Applied Art/Home Economics from Iowa State College. Following several moves after their marriage they settled in Ankeny. In 1976 they moved to a home they designed and built themselves, just east of Ankeny. In 1992 they built a cabin in Northern Minnesota on Big Turtle Lake and spent most of their summers there making many new friends and enjoying many good times with their family.

Marilyn excelled as a homemaker and pursued her many interests in cooking, sewing, gardening and crafts of all kinds. She loved to serve her family, particularly as it grew. DeWayne's work enabled them to do a lot of traveling together both domestically and overseas, generating a raft of picture albums. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a memorial gift to Opportunity Village, P.O. Box 622, Clear Lake, IA 50428. Marilyn's brother Jim resided there for some 17 years. Memorial Services of Iowa is handling arrangements.
