March 30, 1918 --- May 1, 2013

Leona A. Nash, 95, of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Superior passed away peacefully on May 1, 2013. She is preceded in death by loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Edwin; sister, Betty Ruka; and son-in-law Dr. Jim Knight. She is survived by daughter, Linda Knight of Seattle, Wash.; son, Roger (Nancy) of Edina, Minn.; grandchildren, Christopher Knight (fiancé, Leslie), Adam and Madeline Nash; nieces and nephews. Leona was born in Kanawha, Iowa, to Theodore and Gladys Freerksen. She graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music and a Masters of Library Science from University of Wisconsin, Superior. She was a high school music teacher in Renwick and Vinton, Iowa. She also directed church choirs in St. Cloud, Minn. She was very proud of the hand bell choir she directed at Hammond Avenue Presbyterian now United Presbyterian Church of Superior for over 30 years, including a memorable trip to Poland with the hand bell choir. She was also a member of the AD Chapter of PEO in Superior. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 29, in Nichols, Iowa. If desired, memorials may be directed to United Presbyterian Church of Superior.
