Virginia Knosby, 88, of Webster City, died Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Rev. Stephen Meyer, celebrant. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and at the church on Thursday morning. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday followed by a scripture service at 7:15 p.m.

Virginia Belle Lesher, daughter of Daniel and Ellen Holmes Lesher, was born March 29, 1925 at Clarion. She received her education in the Clarion School District and attended Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls. On June 16, 1951, she married Louis Martin Knosby at St. John's Catholic Church at Clarion. The couple farmed near Williams until 1970 when they moved to a farm northwest of Webster City. They continued to farm until March of 2011, then moved to Webster City. Virginia had taught in rural schools near Clarion before their marriage. Louis died November 4, 2011. She continued to reside in Webster City.

Mrs. Knosby is survived by her sons, daughters and their spouses, Martin Knosby of Fort Dodge; Ellen and Allen McBroom and Louis (Mike) Knosby, all of Webster City; Leota and John Thompson of St. Charles, MO; Diane and Jim Smith of Waverly; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Knosby; brothers, Gene, Charles (Pete) and Dannie Lesher and sister, Leota Lesher. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church; Catholic Daughters; Webster City Women's Club; R.S.V.P.; Red Hat Society; the Birthday Club, The Marathon Card Club, Aunt Jane's and a past 4-H Leader.
