Donald Eugene Asche, the son of Angle and Alice (Omvig) Asche, was born July 25, 1931, in Boone Township, Hancock County, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. Don served in the United States Navy from July 19, 1949, to July 25, 1950. On February 13, 1954, Don was united in marriage with Dora Orr in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove, and Don has lived on the farm for 50 years. Don worked for Hormel Meat Packing in Fort Dodge for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed custom farming, gardening, hunting and fishing. Don raised many dogs and animals, both domestic and exotic. Don passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove at the age of 81 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dora, on December 28, 2001; brothers, Edward, Joseph, Kenneth, and Lawrence. Survivors include his children: Michael Asche and wife, Sue, of Durango, Barbara Greenwood and husband, Ken, of Eagle Grove, Cindy Campbell of Eagle Grove, and Don Asche and wife, Jan, of Eagle Grove; grandchildren: Michael Greenwood and wife, Christy, Matthew Asche, Eric Asche, Kristin Asche, Jacob Asche and wife, Mallory, and Adam Asche; a great-granddaughter, Lily Greenwood; sisters: Mary Henningson, Mildred Reed, Alice Jean Lessmeier and husband, Harol, and Linda Asche; brothers: Richard Asche and wife, Janis, Ronald Asche and wife, Fran, Robert Asche and wife, Judy, John Asche and wife, Cindy, and Terry Arne and wife, Vicki; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Private family services will be held at Troy Township Cemetery. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
