September 11, 1873 --- February 7, 1947

Mr. Fred Walkner, 74, passed away Friday, February 7, at Lincoln, Nebraska, where he has lived for the past few years. Mr. Walkner was born and raised in Vernon Township and his many friends here will be sorry to hear of his death. He suffered a heart attack last November which forced him to give up his work at the Lincoln General Hospital, but he had planned to resume work there on March first. On February 7th, he had been to the dentist and decided to walk to the Lincoln General Hospital, three blocks away, and call on friends. He collapsed on the hospital steps and although noticed promptly by a nurse there was nothing that could be done. Mr. Walkner is survived by his wife, Sarah, and one daughter, Mrs. Earl Phipps, of Lincoln, Nebraska, and other relatives. Funeral services were held Monday morning, February 10th at the Roper Chapel in Lincoln, with burial at Wyuka cemetery there.
