Mrs. Joseph Wallace, Sufferer With Rheumatism for Seventeen years, Finally Called Home.
She Was 59 Years of Age
Born in Scotland - Came to This Country When Two Years Old - In Iowa 35 YearsThe sufferings of seventeen years were ended this morning at 2 o'clock, when Mrs. Joseph Wallace died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. T. Davis, 1125 First street. The death of Mrs. Wallace was due to pneumonia from which she had been suffering only since Monday. Mrs. Wallace had been an invalid for seventeen years, being a victim of rheumatism.
Katherine L. Hoag was born in Scotland July 18, 1848. When two years of age she came to this country with her family which located in Wisconsin not far from Milwaukee. Thirty-five years ago the family came to Iowa and settled near Dows where they lived for several years. Katherine L. Hoag was married to Joseph Wallace 32 years ago. Her husband still lives. For the last 28 years Mrs. Wallace has been a resident of this city. In this time she has become widely known and universally respected.
She leaves two brothers and two sisters-John H. Hoag of this city, Wm. Hoag of Creighton, Neb., Mrs. J. N. McLaury of this city, and Mrs. Nettie Boyd of Colorado Springs, Col.; and four children-Mrs. W. T. Davis of this city, Bert and Ed Wallace of Kansas City, Mo., and Miss Mary Wallace, who resides at the Davis home in this city. Mrs. Wallace was a life-time member of the Methodist Church. The funeral arrangements have been postponed until the members of the family can hear from the out-of-town relatives who have been telegraphed the news of Mrs. Wallace's death.
