Last Rites Held for Mrs. Catherine Shreves

Mrs. Catherine A. Shreves, 82, died Saturday at Cherokee. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Eyler funeral chapel at two o'clock. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery at Dows. Rev. R. A. Brough of Dows was the officiating clergyman. The pallbearers were Lyle Willis, Garth Willis, Lyle Houck, and Faye Houck.

Catherine Oberton, daughter of Harrison II and Elizabeth Oberton, was born on a farm neat Galt, January 13, 1872. On Jan. 2, 1893, she was united in marriage to William Edward Shreves. For a number of years they engaged in farming in the Galt neighborhood and later moved to Dows where they lived for a number of years. They moved to Clarion in 1919. Mrs. Shreves moved to Eagle Grove in 1942 which has been her home ever since. She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away Dec. 1, 1929, and by her five brothers and one sister. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Hattie Mitchell of Churdan, Ohio, and by her daughter, Mrs. Glendora Smith, and a granddaughter, Miss Isobel Smith, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
