Mrs. C. C. Thompson, 72, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hamilton county hospital. She had suffered a heart attack Friday at her home, 1103 Water St. Christian Science services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster funeral home. Burial will be in the Cass Center cemetery.
Artie Viola Thompson, daughter of Samuel and Margaret Jane Thompson, was born June 22, 1885, on a farm northeast of Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City schools and grew to young womanhood in this community. She was united in marriage Oct. 21, 1908, to Clarence Calvin Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson started housekeeping on a farm west of Woolstock, where they resided for five years, then moved to a farm in Hamilton county. Later they moved to a farm in Webster county. In 1932, they retired from farming and moved into Webster City, residing at 1103 Water St., the family home since.
She is survived by two sons and five daughters: Samuel R. Thompson, Webster City; Melvin J. Thompson, Des Moines; Mrs. Henry (Ina) Tiffany, Milton, Wis.; Miss Lois Thompson, Webster City; Mrs. Byron (Wanda) Jeys, LeMars; Mrs. Roy (Viola) Chalfant, Woolstock; and Mrs. George (Dorothy) Anderson, Stanhope. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Miss Agnes Thompson, Webster City. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband on June 1, 1952. By one daughter, Evelyn, who died in 1931; one granddaughter, Geraldine Jeys; by her parents; two brothers and three sisters. In her earlier life she was active in the Mulberry Center church, but in later years had attended the Christian Science church in this city.
