FRANK AHMANN ANSWERS CALL
WAS A WELL KNOWN CITIZEN AND BUSINESS MAN OF REMSEN

Funeral services for Frank Ahmann, well known Remsen man and resident there for the past forty-four years, were held from the home of the deceased's brother, Supervisor J. H. Ahmann, in Remsen, Monday morning. Services were held in St. Mary's Catholic church. Mr. Ahmann died in the Sacred Heart hospital, Le Mars, on the morning of July 4, following a two weeks illness with heart trouble and complications.

Frank Ahmann was born January 6, 1871, on a farm near Petersburg, Iowa, and at the age of fifteen years in the company with three of his brothers including Supervisor Ahmann, came to Remsen. He worked on a farm for the latter several years and then engaged at the carpenter trade. He went into the contracting business in partnership with Nick Scholer, present town marshal, in 1895 and six years later Mr. Ahmann and his brother Andrew formed a partnership in the grain, coal and livestock business at Mallard, Iowa. Later they opened a lumber yard at Corwith, with Frank managing the business. The brothers dissolved partnership in 1905 and Frank returned to Remsen where he went into the grain and livestock business with his brother Joseph, now of Sioux City. They operated their business four years and then dissolved partnership. In 1913 Mr. Ahmann was one of the founders of the Farmers Savings bank in Remsen, and had been a director of this institution until the time of his death.

Surviving are four brothers--J. H. Ahmann and Barney Ahmann, Remsen; Andrew, of Farley, Iowa and Joe, of Sioux City. Two brothers died in infancy and one brother, Clemens, died in 1916. The deceased was never married.
