Mrs. Johanna Smith, 81, died Monday, July 26, at her home at Livermore after a brief illness. Services were held Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers were Howard Barton, A. Lenertz, Robert Wilson, Kelly Gronbach, Gene Hanifan and Earle Armstrong. Surviving are three sons: Father Donald R. Smith, Laurens; Alfred, Lu Verne; and Clyde, Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Francis Bordwell, Gilmore City; Mrs. Milton Armstrong, Livermore; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; one brother, Steve Halligan, Blue Earth, Minn,; two sisters: Miss Marie Halligan, Corwith; and Mrs. Edna Timm, St. Paul, Minn.
Johanna Halligan was born at Piper City, ILL. She married Isaac R. Smith at Corwith and settled at Livermore shortly after their marriage. Mr. Smith died in 1947. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the American Auxiliary of Livermore.
