August 11, 1893 --- June 13, 1977

Roy Black, 83, Clermont, Florida, a former Pontiac [Illinois] resident, died at Clermont Hospital. Mr. Black was born Aug. 11, 1893 in Corwith, Iowa, a son of Presley and Mallie (Ogg) Black, He married Mable Morrison Feb. 11, 1920. He farmed and was a painter in McDowell and Pontiac until his retirement in 1955, when he moved to Clermont. He had served as a precinct committeeman, township assessor and supervisor in Avoca Township. He was a member of the McDowell Methodist Church and the American Legion. During World War T he served with an anti-aircraft division in France. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Harms, Pontiac; a son, Hobert E. Black, Clermont, Fla., and a foster son, John Stout, Pontiac; 11 grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was preceded in death by an infant son, two brothers and a sister.
