Ole Peterson, 92, Dies Monday At Mason City

Outlives Seven of His Nine Children

Ole Peterson, Britt, passed away at the Park Hospital, Mason City, Monday evening, Nov. 8, 1954. Mr. Peterson was in good health until Saturday evening, Oct. 30, when he fell, fracturing his hip. Death was due to complications and old age. He was 92 years and 26 days old at the time of death. Mr. Peterson was born in Kendall County, Illinois, Oct 12, 1862, a son to the late Mr. and Mrs. Severt Peterson. He spent his early life in Grundy and Kendall county Illinois. Morris, IL being his home town. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in his early years. On May 9, 1886 (5/12/1886), Ole Peterson was united in marriage to Betsey Thorson. To this union were born five sons and four daughters. The family came to Iowa March 1916 and located on a farm near Kanawha where they resided eight years. Leaving there they came to Britt, which has since been the family home with the exception of three years spent in Des Moines. The last fourteen months Mr. Peterson made his home at the Good Samaritan Home in Mason City where he was cared for. Surviving are two sons, Maurice of Britt and Bertram of Oakland, California. Also six grandchildren. Deceased was preceded in death by his wife in 1948, and the following children Mabel, 1889, Esther 1929, Alvin 1946, Cora 1951, Silas 1952, Edgar 1952, and Lillian 1953. Funeral Services will be held Thursday afternoon Nov. 11 at the Evangelical Free Church in Britt with the Rev H. O. Maulsby of the Good Samaritan Home of Mason City and the Rev E. V. Streed, Britt in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery of Britt.
